JOB SUMMARY

Requirements Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus. Professional certification in quantity surveying or related field (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the real estate and construction industry. Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations. Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of quantity surveying.Competencies For The Role:Quantitative Analysis: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to accurately quantify materials, resources, and costs for construction projects.Cost Management: Comprehensive knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control principles to manage project costs effectively and optimize financial outcomes.Procurement and Contract Management: Proficiency in procurement processes, contract negotiation, and subcontract management to secure favorable pricing and terms for materials and services.Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with quantity surveying software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or Autodesk Quantity Takeoff, to facilitate quantity measurement and cost analysis.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical information, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve quantity surveying issues, contractual disputes, and cost-related challenges in a timely and effective manner.Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in quantity measurement, cost analysis, and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of quantity surveying data.Teamwork: Collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to achieve project objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Description  We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our real estate and construction firm. The Quantity Surveyor will play a crucial role in managing costs, procurement, and contractual matters for construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency and adherence to budgetary constraints. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of quantity surveying principles and practices.Duties Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for construction projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs, to support project planning and procurement activities. Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from architectural and engineering drawings to accurately quantify materials and resources required for construction activities. Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, negotiate pricing and terms, and prepare subcontract agreements and purchase orders to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms. Monitor and control project costs throughout the project lifecycle, tracking expenditures, analyzing variances, and implementing cost-saving measures to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints. Collaborate with project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to assess project requirements, identify value engineering opportunities, and optimize cost-effective solutions. Prepare and submit interim and final valuations, progress reports, and payment applications to clients, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and payment processing in accordance with contractual agreements. Conduct regular site visits and inspections to verify work progress, assess quality standards, and identify potential cost implications, reporting findings to project management and stakeholders. Assist in resolving contractual disputes, claims, and change orders, providing accurate documentation, cost analysis, and negotiation support to mitigate risks and minimize financial impacts. Utilize quantity surveying software and tools to automate and streamline measurement, costing, and reporting processes, improving efficiency and accuracy in quantity surveying tasks. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in quantity surveying, participating in professional development activities and continuing education opportunities.Key Performance Indicators: Accuracy of cost estimates and bills of quantities, measured by variance analysis between estimated and actual project costs. Adherence to project budgets and cost control measures, including cost-to-complete forecasts and percentage of project completed within budget. Timeliness and accuracy of payment applications and invoices, ensuring prompt payment and cash flow management. Effectiveness of procurement processes, assessed by cost savings achieved through competitive bidding and negotiation strategies. Quality of quantity surveying documentation and reports, including clear and concise communication of findings, recommendations, and cost analysis. Client satisfaction ratings based on responsiveness, professionalism, and accuracy in quantity surveying services. Contribution to project profitability, evidenced by cost savings, value engineering initiatives, and successful resolution of contractual disputes. Compliance with industry standards, regulations, and contractual requirements, demonstrated through audit findings and project performance evaluations.
