Job description
- As a Senior Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems critical to the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
- This role requires strong technical expertise in instrumentation, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a challenging offshore environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation and control systems including pressure, temperature, level, flow, and safety systems.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on instrumentation systems to identify and resolve issues promptly, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Coordinate with other departments such as operations, electrical, and mechanical to ensure integrated functioning of instrumentation and control systems.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in the planning and execution of instrumentation upgrades, modifications, and installations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration reports, and inventory levels for instrumentation spare parts and equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and assist in their training and development.
- Monitor process parameters and alarms, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and the team.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs, spare parts procurement, and technical support.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to instrumentation and control systems in offshore environments.
- Actively participate in emergency response drills and procedures to ensure readiness for any potential incidents.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Instrumentation Technician in the offshore oil and gas industry, with specific experience on FPSOs preferred.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, control systems, and PLCs Programmable Logic Controllers.
- Proficiency in reading P&IDs Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, loop diagrams, and control system drawings.
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation calibration equipment, troubleshooting tools, and software systems.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols e.g., API, ISO, HSE.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging offshore conditions for extended periods.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
