PURPOSE OF ROLE

Role holder will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices in accounting procedures

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather financial data and ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting.
  • Present financial reports and analysis to management, providing insights into financial performance and trends.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for the upstream division.
  • Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and collaborate with operational teams to address deviations and optimize financial outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate investment opportunities, assess project economics, and optimize capital allocation.
  • Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to facilitate the audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee the preparation of tax returns and related filings.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting their professional growth and development.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence decision-making.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Candidate must be ICAN/ACCA Certified.
  • Experience from any of the BIG-4 Audit firms.
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, preferably in the oil and gas industry with exposure to upstream operations
