ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) was established through an Act of the Parliament in 1960. The Act, referred to as the Nigerian Red Cross Act of 1960, CAP 324 states in Section 5 (1) that ‘the Society shall be recognised by the Government of the Federation as a Voluntary Aid Society, auxiliary to the public authorities…’ This shows that we are a creation of the Federal Government of Nigeria and statutorily meant to complement public authorities in the area of humanitarian interventions. Our mandate is derived from the aforementioned Act of Parliament and the Geneva Conventions of which Nigeria is a state party.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Purpose The Driver will be responsible for transporting staff and ensuring official vehicles are in good and safe working condition.Duties and Duties Transport staff securely to areas where they are needed Ensure timely conveyance of staff and materials to and from places as instructed by supervisor or the manager Ensure that vehicles are always kept clean by washing both the inside and outside parts of the vehicle Carry out routine checks on vehicles and ensure they are in good working condition Recognize electrical and mechanical faults and report to the line manager or technician Report any instance of mishap or accident to the line manager Perform periodic maintenance on vehicles, such as changing batteries and motor oil at appropriate time, as well as fueling the car(s) Report any case of accident, injury or damage of vehicles to the supervisor or manager Keep all records, including receipts for vehicle maintenance Keep a travel log to record areas travelled to, travel time, and work hours  Duties Applicable to all Staff: Actively work towards the achievement of the NRCS goals Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross Fundamental Principles and NRCS Statutes Show capacity to assist other members of staff and management, aptitude for maintaining cooperation and team spirit necessary to achieve the objectives of the National Society Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by Line Manager

REQUIRED SKILLS

Vehicle maintenance and repair, Driving license Class B, C, E - light vehicles & heavy commercial vehicles, Car driving, Road navigation and map reading, Traffic laws and regulations
