About the Role:
We're in search of a skilled RD&A Scientist experienced in Sauce technologies, particularly Savoury or Sweet sauces. This role involves end-to-end collaboration from Ideation to Commercialization within a global company boasting a significant presence across Greater Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer support to R&D, Regulatory, Marketing, Commercial, Operations, and Quality teams
- Analyze existing scientific evidence to develop product positioning and messaging while adhering to regulations
- Provide continuous technical support for sauces development in food service, focusing on savoury and sweet varieties
- Lead holistic product development of sauces with a focus on formulation excellence and processing expertise
- Utilize ingredient knowledge including fat emulsion, protein stabilization, dairy ingredients, and more for innovative product development
- Drive rapid innovation for new products to meet evolving consumer needs in the food service sector
- Identify new product development opportunities across various markets and channels
- Evaluate technologies and ingredients for product development and leverage existing technologies for innovation
- Support relevant teams on food service projects
- Assist in formulating wet sauce platforms and communicate the business impact of programs
- Collaborate with internal and external experts for product innovation and business growth
- Participate in various projects and present scientific data to drive business objectives
- Engage in new product development with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
- Attend trade shows and industry conferences, and engage with customers and stakeholders
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Hold a Bachelors/Masters degree in Food Science, Food Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related fields with a minimum of 5 years experience
- Experience in Food and Beverage research, including protocol development, study design, and project management
- Expertise in sauce product development, especially in fat emulsion, protein stabilization, and flavourings
- Knowledge of sensory evaluation and product upscale with processing understanding
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Fluency in English with strong communication and team-focused skills
- Display creativity and stay updated on industry trends and developments
- Take ownership of tasks and demonstrate accountability to completion
