Job Description

  • As an Assistant technical superintendent, you will be responsible for maintaining the efficiency and safety of the vessel's technical systems and machinery.
  • Overseeing maintenance, repairs, and compliance with industry regulations to ensure the vessel's seaworthiness and optimal performance.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend vessels at ports and sail periodically to assess technical conditions and required repairs.
  • Sail with vessels to troubleshoot technical problems and develop solutions.
  • Monitor lube-oil and bunker quality along with consumption rate.
  • Review and assess reports, legislation, and maintenance system records.
  • Evaluate repair quotations and oversee repair activities ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise new acquisitions delivery and spare parts supply.
  • Plan and execute maintenance for technical systems including propulsion and navigation.
  • Coordinate with shipyards and suppliers for repairs and upgrades.
  • Ensure vessel compliance with regulations and safety standards.
  • Promote safety culture and environmental protection measures.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders and collaborate with other departments.
  • Assist in engine room crew assessments during recruitment.
  • Develop emergency response plans and provide technical support during incidents.
  • Report to the Technical Superintendent on vessel technical matters.
  • Carry out assigned tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate in Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Second Engineer on medium-range tankers.
  • Prior experience as a Technical Superintendent, preferably with medium-range white product tankers.
  • Knowledge of vessel operations, maritime regulations, and management systems.
  • Familiarity with international conventions and codes.
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic maritime environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
