Job Title: Multimedia Journalist

Join our team as a Multimedia Journalist and play a key role in producing high-quality content for our audiences.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to initiate, gather, and produce material for news, original content, current affairs, and general programming. You will be responsible for self-shooting and editing complete packages for use across multiple platforms.

Main Responsibilities
  • Content Creation:
    • Use a range of video, audio, and digital equipment to research, write, shoot, assemble, edit, and deliver outputs in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards.
    • Routinely self-shoot and edit complete packages.
    • Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
  • Production and Presentation:
    • May be required to present content on radio, TV, or online, live or recorded.
    • May include the production and presentation of programs, live or recorded.
    • Take a lead within a team setting or on delivering a specific piece of journalism or project as appropriate.
  • Teamwork and Communication:
    • Understand how a team works effectively.
    • Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to improving diversity in the organization and understand how individual differences can benefit the organization.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to use technology as required, gathering material for broadcast.
    • Understand how to use a range of video, audio, and digital equipment and information technology to research, write, assemble, edit, and deliver programs in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards.
Requirements
  • Language Skills:
    • An understanding of Igbo language, ability to communicate and produce content in the language.
  • Experience:
    • Significant recent experience as a journalist, with a good knowledge of production techniques – especially self-shooting and editing.
    • Strong record of originating and developing stories for news programs.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to write creatively in an engaging manner, adapt, produce, and translate with accuracy, clarity, and style appropriate to differing audiences and forms of media suitable for multimedia output.
    • Effective planning and organizing skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
