Job Purpose:

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant to lead and oversee the accounts payable activities of the company. The role involves maintaining the Accounts Payable Processing System, ensuring accurate expense recording and documentation, managing vendor relationships, and assisting with financial book closures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable: Develop and implement procedures for timely processing of invoices, purchase orders, and expenses. Maintain records of accounts owed, prepare invoices, process payments, and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Month end closure: Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly financial closures, including accounting adjustments.
  • Reconciliation: Coordinate financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and supplier reconciliations.
  • Initiate online payments, manage supplier aging reports, and ensure timely payments.
  • Data Entry: Record all transactions in compliance with policies and regulations. Ensure accurate data entry into the financial system.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain vendor files, ensure compliance with tax requirements, and assist staff with purchase orders and vendor transactions.
  • Reporting: Assist with statutory reporting, prepare cash requirement reports, and reconcile accounts.
  • Compliance: Ensure tax compliance and assist with annual audits.
  • Administration: Resolve Accounts Payable issues, maintain records, and organize filing systems.
  • Handle any additional tasks assigned by the Finance Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accountancy within a commercial environment.
  • Qualified Accountant with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Experience with VAT, PAYE, Corporation tax, and financial software.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Quick Book, Sage, and accounting packages.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Strong IT skills, especially in Excel, and ability to work with financial data.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and file maintenance.
  • Experience in month-end financial closures.
