Job Overview
The ESG Lead is responsible for shaping, implementing, and managing the organization’s ESG strategy. This role involves working closely with senior leadership to align business practices with sustainability, social responsibility, and governance best practices. The ESG Lead will spearhead initiatives that drive the company’s sustainability goals, enhance corporate transparency, and promote ethical and inclusive business practices to strengthen stakeholder trust and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation
Develop and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy in alignment with company goals and industry standards.
Identify ESG risks and opportunities, creating actionable plans to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Work with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG considerations into business operations, product development, and corporate strategy.
Performance Measurement and Reporting
Establish KPIs to measure ESG performance across the organization, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Lead data collection and reporting on ESG metrics, preparing quarterly and annual reports in alignment with global ESG frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
Oversee ESG disclosures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and improving stakeholder understanding of the company’s ESG progress.
Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with investors, regulators, employees, and communities to communicate the company’s ESG strategy and performance.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, including NGOs, industry groups, and governmental agencies, to build partnerships that support ESG objectives.
Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations on emerging ESG trends and best practices.
Environmental Sustainability Initiatives
Lead sustainability programs focused on reducing carbon footprint, waste reduction, and resource efficiency.
Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to improve sustainability practices across product sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution.
Identify new initiatives or technologies that drive environmental sustainability, including renewable energy adoption, emissions reduction, and sustainable sourcing.
Social Responsibility Programs
Design and oversee programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the company.
Develop community engagement initiatives that positively impact local communities, employee volunteering, and charitable partnerships.
Monitor and enhance company policies on employee welfare, human rights, and labor practices to foster a socially responsible workplace.
Governance and Ethical Practices
Ensure corporate governance policies are aligned with industry standards and ethical business practices.
Promote transparency, ethical decision-making, and accountability within the organization.
Lead initiatives to enhance diversity within the leadership team and support executive education on governance and sustainability.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business, Sustainability, or a related field; Master’s degree or ESG-specific certifications preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or a similar role within a corporate or consultancy environment.
Skills:
Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, standards, and reporting requirements (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, SDGs).
Analytical skills with experience in data management and reporting tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders.
Project management experience with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ESG reporting platforms and software.
