As a key part of the management team, the HOD, Finance will have interactions with various members of a company, both senior and junior.
Duties and Responsibilities:
FINANCIAL STRATEGY AND PLANNING:
Providing leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team
Providing strategic recommendations to members of the executive management team
Managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting
Advising on long-term business and financial planning
Establishing and developing relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders
Reviewing all formal finance, HR and IT related procedures
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team, assisting in decision-making and risk management processes.
Drive financial planning and forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to support business operations and optimize resource allocation.
FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ANALYSIS
Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide actionable insights to the executive team.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
CAPITAL MANAGEMENT AND INVESTMENT STRATEGY
Develop and implement capital allocation strategies, including debt and equity financing, to support business expansion and investment initiatives.
Evaluate investment opportunities, conduct financial due diligence, and provide recommendations on potential acquisitions, partnerships, or divestitures.
Optimize the company's capital structure, manage cash flow, and minimize financial risk exposure.
RISK MAMAGEMENT
Establish and monitor effective financial risk management policies and procedures.
Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, such as market volatility, foreign exchange exposure, credit risk, and operational risk.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain strong relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
TEAM LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT
Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Provide guidance and support to finance staff in areas such as financial analysis, reporting, and strategic decision-making.
Foster effective cross-functional collaboration with other departments, promoting a cohesive and aligned approach to achieving business objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
Proven track record of developing and implementing financial strategies that drive growth and improve profitability.
Strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
Experience in capital management, investment analysis, and M&A activities.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving common goals.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
Sound knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies impacting the telecommunications sector.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
ACA+ HND or BSc
- Minimum 2years managerial experience.
