Key Responsibilities
· Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive framework for regulatory and legal compliance. Ensure all operations meet timelines and adhere to applicable regulations.
· Team Development: Build and manage a highly competent team, providing training and guidance to ensure they achieve organizational performance objectives.
· Operational Oversight: Coordinate with cross-functional teams, directors, and departments to ensure compliance reviews are performed regularly, and corrective actions are taken when necessary.
· Board and Shareholder Support: Prepare agendas, facilitate meetings (including AGMs), and draft resolutions and minutes. Ensure proper communication of board decisions.
· Compliance Management: Oversee the company's adherence to legal, regulatory, and governance standards. Ensure timely updates to management regarding legislative changes and ensure appropriate compliance actions are taken.
· Legal and Regulatory Filing: Manage the filing of legal documents, annual reports, financial statements, and other statutory requirements.
· Ethics and Governance: Promote ethical practices throughout the organization and maintain statutory records, including registers of members, directors, and secretaries.
· Reporting and MIS: Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Ensure reports align with business objectives, functional requirements, and compliance standards.
· To perform other related duties or assignments as and when assigned.
Requirements
· A first degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
· A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a similar leadership role within an FMCG manufacturing organization with over 1,000 employees.
· Strong experience in handling governance-related processes and legal compliance.
· Willingness to Travel: Must be willing to travel as needed to meet business requirements across Nigeria/West Africa. The role is transferable, and postings may be made to different locations.
· Proven leadership capabilities with strong team-building skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with cross-functional teams, directors, and external agencies.
· Strong planning and decision-making capabilities.
· Effective communication and negotiation skills.
