Position Title: Laundry Attendant
Location: AKTC Guest House, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria
Department: Housekeeping/Laundry Services
Reports To: Guest House Manager

Job Summary:
The Laundry Attendant at AKTC Guest House is responsible for the cleaning, drying, ironing, and proper handling of all linens, uniforms, and guest clothing. The role involves operating laundry equipment, ensuring the correct cleaning processes are followed, and maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will be organized, efficient, and capable of handling large volumes of laundry while maintaining attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Laundry Operations:
Sort, wash, dry, iron, and fold guest house linens, towels, staff uniforms, and personal items for guests.
Operate laundry machines including washers, dryers, and ironing equipment according to safety standards and manufacturer's instructions.
Sort laundry by color, fabric type, and washing requirements, ensuring each item is handled according to its care label.

2. Linen and Fabric Care:
Ensure that all linens, towels, and fabrics are treated with the proper cleaning solutions and detergents for the best results.
Check for stains, damage, or wear on linens and report any issues to the Guest House Manager.
Apply spot treatment techniques when necessary to remove tough stains or marks.

3. Guest Services:
Provide laundry services for guests upon request, including washing, ironing, and folding clothes.
Ensure timely and efficient delivery of laundered items to guest rooms or designated areas.
Handle guest laundry items with care and return them in pristine condition.

4. Inventory and Stock Management:
Monitor the inventory of cleaning supplies, detergents, fabric softeners, and other laundry products.
Report low stock levels to the Guest House Manager to ensure timely reordering of laundry supplies.
Maintain the proper storage and organization of linens and laundry items to prevent damage and ensure ease of access.

5. Equipment Maintenance:
Regularly inspect and maintain laundry equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions with the laundry equipment to the Guest House Manager for repairs or servicing.
Clean and sanitize laundry machines and work areas daily to maintain hygiene standards.

6. Cleanliness and Hygiene:
Ensure the laundry room and surrounding areas are kept clean and free of clutter.
Follow safety and hygiene protocols to prevent cross-contamination between different laundry items (e.g., separating soiled linen from clean linen).
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling potentially contaminated laundry.

7. Quality Control:
Inspect laundered items for cleanliness, ensuring that they meet the guest house's quality standards before folding or delivering them.
Ensure that all linens are properly folded and stored to maintain their appearance and durability.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic training in laundry or housekeeping services is a plus.

Experience:
Previous experience as a laundry attendant, cleaner, or in a similar role in a hotel, guest house, or commercial laundry service is preferred.

Skills:
Knowledge of laundry operations, including washing, drying, ironing, and folding.
Familiarity with different types of fabrics and the proper handling of delicate materials.
Ability to operate laundry machinery safely and efficiently.
Attention to detail in inspecting and caring for linens and guest garments.

Other Requirements
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy loads, and perform repetitive tasks.
Good communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Working Conditions:
The position requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending, and lifting of laundry loads.
The Laundry Attendant must be comfortable working in a warm environment with the noise from laundry equipment.
Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, are required based on guest house occupancy and demand for laundry services.
