The Sales Specialist will be responsible for driving the acquisition of new customers, promoting the bank’s products and services, managing customer relationships, and achieving assigned sales and revenue targets. The role requires a proactive, target-driven individual with strong communication, networking, and relationship-management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and acquire new customers through direct sales, referrals, networking, and market activations. Promote and sell banking products and services, including savings/current accounts, loans, cards, digital banking solutions, investments, and other financial products. Generate and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective customers. Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and potential customer segments. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers. Meet and consistently exceed assigned monthly and quarterly sales targets. Cross-sell and upsell relevant banking products to existing customers. Conduct customer visits, presentations, product demonstrations, and follow-ups where required. Ensure accurate and timely completion of account-opening and customer onboarding documentation. Ensure all customer acquisition activities comply with the bank’s KYC, AML, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements. Follow up on leads and convert qualified prospects into active customers. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, leads, and conversions. Work closely with Relationship Managers, Branch Operations, Customer Service, and other relevant teams to ensure smooth customer onboarding. Provide regular sales activity and performance reports to the supervisor or Branch Manager. Stay informed about the bank’s products, pricing, policies, promotions, and competitive offerings. Resolve customer enquiries and escalate complaints appropriately. Participate in branch campaigns, roadshows, community activations, and other business-development initiatives. Monitor market and competitor activities and provide feedback to management. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) New customer acquisition. New accounts opened and activated. Deposit mobilization. Loan/credit product acquisition. Credit card and digital banking adoption. Cross-selling and upselling performance. Lead conversion rate. Monthly and quarterly sales target achievement. Customer retention and relationship growth. Quality and accuracy of customer documentation. Compliance with KYC and other regulatory requirements. Requirements Bachelor’s degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Marketing, Banking & Finance, Economics, or a related field. 1–2 years of sales, business development, relationship management, or banking experience is preferred. Experience in financial services, retail banking, fintech, FMCG, telecommunications, or other target-driven environments is an advantage. Strong knowledge of sales and customer acquisition techniques. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong customer-service and relationship-management abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong networking and prospecting skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding sales targets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic digital tools.
