In-House Counsel Lead

About the Position

MeritAbode Nigeria Limited is seeking an In-House Counsel Lead to join our team. As a key member of our organization, this role will involve providing expert legal advice, developing governance policies, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Main Duties:

• Offer informed and timely guidance to senior executives on a range of legal matters, including labor law, partnerships, international ventures, and corporate finance.

• Work collaboratively with management to create effective defense strategies and define internal governance protocols.

• Analyze potential risks associated with business decisions and operations, employing sound risk management techniques and suggesting proactive measures to mitigate legal concerns.

• Negotiate with external entities, establishing strong working relationships and drafting agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.

• Address complex issues involving multiple stakeholders and interest groups, clarifying legal terminology and specifications for all organizational personnel while upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

• Stay abreast of legislative developments and execute other tasks assigned by the organization.

Qualifications:

We seek a seasoned professional with 4-8 years of experience as a Legal/Compliance Officer, ideally with a background in litigation. Strong communication and negotiation skills, coupled with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, are crucial for success in this position.
