Senior In-House Counsel

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join our team at MeritAbode Nigeria Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel and support to our executives and management, ensuring the company's full legal rights and compliance with all relevant laws.

Main Responsibilities

• Give accurate and timely counsel to executives on various legal topics, including labor law, partnerships, international ventures, and corporate finance.">
• Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies and specify internal governance policies.">
• Evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.">
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.">
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties, creating relations of trust.">
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts, and other legal documents.">
• Deal with complex matters involving multiple stakeholders and forces.">
• Clarify legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization.">
• Maintain current knowledge of changes in legislation.">

Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate should have 4-8 years of experience as a Legal/Compliance Officer, with litigation experience.
