About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Tally Clerk to join our Operations team at Josepdam Port Services Nigeria Limited. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately recording all incoming and outgoing cargo, ensuring proper stacking, documentation, and smooth cargo operations within the terminal.
This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work in fast-paced and crowded environments, and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive cargo from vessels and record (tally) units accurately
- Identify cargo marks, labels, numbers, and specifications
- Stack/position cargo properly in the warehouse or designated stacking area
- Issue call-up letters/forms to clearing agents for truck deployment
- Receive loading orders from the documentation unit and confirm:
- Bill of lading
- Agent details
- Cargo type and quantity
- Payment confirmation
- Tally the number of units per truck and submit tally sheets for cargo pass processing
- Maintain proper recordkeeping and support seamless cargo operations
- Perform any other duties assigned by management
Requirements (Person Specifications)
Academic Qualification:
- OND or Diploma in any relevant field
Professional Qualification:
- As may be required
Experience:
- 1–2 years post-qualification experience in a similar role

- Strong clerical and administrative skills
- Good knowledge of arithmetic and basic statistics
- Customer service orientation
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- Ability to work in crowded spaces and manage spatial arrangement of cargo
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under deadlines and within a team
Performance Expectations
- Maintain strong working relationships with third-party agents by ensuring accurate cargo tallying and stacking
- Deliver accurate and timely recordkeeping in all cargo-related activities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦140,000.00 per month
