Job Summary
We are seeking a Geomapping Analyst to assist in mapping, spatial data management, and
routing support across Lagos Mainland and Island. The role involves working with
OpenStreetMap, Overpass Turbo, GraphHopper, and other mapping platforms to support
accurate zone creation, data visualization, and route planning under guidance from senior
mapping staff.
This is an entry to mid-level role, ideal for candidates looking to build experience in GIS,
geospatial data, and mapping systems.
Key Responsibilities
● Design, develop, and maintain custom map layers and zoning systems covering both
Lagos Mainland (e.g., Yaba, Surulere, Ikeja, Maryland, Gbagada, Ogudu) and Lagos
Island (e.g., Ajah, Badore, Sangotedo, Awoyaya, Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Epe).
● Extract, process, and clean spatial datasets from OpenStreetMap, Overpass Turbo, and
other mapping sources, converting them into GeoJSON, KML, GPX, or shapefile
formats.
● Process, clean, and integrate CSV data containing all property submission logs with
coordinates, ensuring accurate mapping of properties and estates.
● Independently create and maintain maps, zones, and routing systems to support
operational planning.
● Create, update, and optimize driving and routing maps using GraphHopper or similar
routing engines.
● Visualize zones, estates, and street networks in GIS or mapping platforms to enhance
operational clarity.
● Validate map data against real-world conditions and property submissions to ensure
accuracy and reliability.
● Develop and maintain scripts or tools (Python, JavaScript, SQL) for map automation,
data validation, and route optimization.● Identify gaps or inconsistencies in map data and resolve them through updates,
corrections, or field verification.
● Continuously monitor and improve map coverage, accuracy, usability, and routing
efficiency to support operational performance.
● Support data integration and visualization within company dashboards and GIS
platforms.
● Document mapping workflows, zoning logic, route optimization decisions, and dataset
transformations for internal reference and future onboarding.
Required Skills and Qualifications
● Hands-on experience with OpenStreetMap (OSM) and Overpass Turbo for extracting
and processing spatial data.
● Experience with GraphHopper, OSRM, or similar routing engines capable of creating
optimized driving and cycling routes.
● Strong coding/scripting skills (Python, JavaScript, or SQL) for processing CSV data
containing property submission logs with coordinates and automating map tasks.
● Proficiency with GIS tools such as QGIS, Mapbox, Leaflet, or MapLibre for visualizing
zones, estates, and street networks.
● Ability to manage and maintain spatial datasets in GeoJSON, KML, GPX, or shapefile
formats.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including route optimization for cycling and
driving efficiency.
● Attention to detail and spatial awareness to ensure accurate maps and coordinates.
● Ability to work independently and take full ownership of mapping, routing, and data
management tasks.
● Knowledge of Lagos geography, estates, street networks, and practical cycling/transport
routes for operational planning.
Preferred Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Computer Science, Data
Science, or a related field.
● Experience with property submission mapping or real estate operations is desirable but
not mandatory.
● Proven experience in route optimization for cycling and driving, especially using
GraphHopper, OSRM, or similar platforms.
● Familiarity with dashboard integration or visualization tools for spatial data (e.g., Power
BI, , Tableau).
● Prior experience with spatial data automation, API integration, or GIS scripting.
● Knowledge of Lagos Mainland and Island geography, including estates, street networks,
and urban layouts.
● Understanding of logistics, delivery, or rider operations to optimize operational routes
effectively.
