Job Summary

This is a full-time on-site role for a Civil Engineer at Handyman Daige in Abuja. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for civil engineering design, planning, and other related tasks to support real estate development projects.

Job Description

1. Work with superiors to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets ensuring alignment with project specifications, timelines, and resource requirements.

2. Oversee construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with COREN, safety regulations, building codes, and project specifications, monitoring progress, quality of work, and adherence to construction schedules.

3. Supervise and coordinate the work of construction crew members, subcontractors, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring teamwork and productivity to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

4. Implement quality control measures, conduct inspections, and ensure that construction work meets quality standards, specifications, and client expectations, addressing any deficiencies or deviations promptly.

5. Coordinate the delivery of construction materials, tools, and equipment to site, manage inventory levels, monitor usage, and ensure that resources are utilized efficiently to support construction activities.

6. Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety inspections, identify and mitigate potential hazards, and promote a safe work environment for all construction personnel, adhering to occupational health and safety regulations.

7. Maintain accurate project records, document daily construction activities, report progress to project managers, and provide updates on project milestones, issues, and challenges faced on-site.

8. Liaise with managers and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication, timely resolution of issues, and alignment of project objectives, fostering collaboration and clear communication channels.

9. Evaluate and respond to change orders, modifications, and variations in project scope, ensuring proper documentation, approval processes, and communication of changes to stakeholders to manage project scope effectively.

10. Identify and address construction-related issues, conflicts, and challenges proactively, proposing and implementing solutions, troubleshooting technical problems, and ensuring that construction activities progress smoothly.

11.: Monitor and implement cost-saving measures, ensuring that construction projects are completed within budget constraints and financial targets.

1. Interface with clients, attend project meetings, address client concerns, provide project updates, and ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality construction work, meeting project requirements, and maintaining positive relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng)
• 7-10 years Civil Engineering Experience post NYSC
• Ability to analyze and interpret data for civil engineering projects
• Knowledge of relevant civil engineering software and tools
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
• Experience in real estate development projects is beneficial
• Must have worked on a building that is more than 4 floors
