Role Overview

The Settlement & Reconciliation will work with team mates to oversee all settlement and reconciliation operations to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient processing of transactions across our payment platforms. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of financial systems and payment processes. The successful candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding financial integrity and ensuring operational excellence in line with the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Settlement Operations

2. Oversee daily settlement processes for all payment channels, ensuring timely and accurate remittance to merchants and partners.

3. Monitor settlement cycles and proactively resolve discrepancies or delays.

4. Ensure compliance with internal SLAs and regulatory requirements for settlement timelines.

5. Reconciliation Management

6. Lead the reconciliation of all transaction data between payment gateways, bank statements, and internal records.

7. Investigate and resolve transaction variances, chargebacks, and payment disputes in a timely manner.

8. Maintain accurate reconciliation reports for internal and external audits.

9. Team Leadership & Coordination

10. Manage and mentor a team of settlement and reconciliation officers, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.

11. Set daily/weekly performance targets and monitor progress against KPIs.

12. Provide regular training to enhance team skills and knowledge of payment processes.

13. Process Improvement & Risk Management

14. Identify gaps in settlement and reconciliation processes and implement solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation.

15. Establish strong internal controls to mitigate fraud, operational errors, and financial risks.

16. Work closely with IT and Product teams to enhance reporting tools and system functionality.

17. Stakeholder Collaboration

18. Serve as the primary liaison between the settlement team, banks, merchants, and third-party service providers.

19. Provide timely updates to senior management on settlement performance, outstanding issues, and process improvement initiatives.

20. Support Finance, Compliance, and Operations teams during audits and regulatory reviews.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

• 5–10 years of proven experience in settlement, reconciliation, or financial operations, preferably within the financial services, fintech, banking, or consulting sectors.

• Strong knowledge of payment systems, transaction life cycles, and financial settlement processes.

• Experience working with payment gateways, POS transactions, and online banking platforms.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reconciliation tools; familiarity with financial management software is an added advantage.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Professional certifications related to finance/operations certifications are an added advantage.
