Company Overview:

A Not-for-Profit Organization is seeking a results-driven and innovative Account Assistant to join its dynamic team. This role will focus on managing the financials of the organization.

Position Overview:

As an Account Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities:

  • Record and post payment vouchers, make journal entries, maintain general ledgers and trial balance required for financial statements using the Sage Accounting Software.
  • Carry out Bank statements reconciliations on our accounts and third-party transactions.
  • Maintains fixed Asset register for all classes of Assets and depreciation of the assets applying the appropriate rates.
  • Raise customers Invoices and post same to the relevant ledgers.
  • Maintains publication Inventory records and carry out a periodic Inventory count.
  • Assist during the annual audit exercise in providing documents other relevant information needed for the exercise.
  • Participate in the budget process and analysis.
  • Carry out banking transactions and remittances of all statutory deductions of taxes and pensions and maintain the relevant schedules.
  • Keep accurate records of general accounts.
  • Manage and maintain petty cash system.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Professional certification (ICAN) is preferred and added advantage
  • Proven experience in accounting roles, with a strong understanding of IFRS.
  • Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
