Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Outreach Manager to join our team and help expand TEDxMaitama's visibility, impact, and partnerships. The Outreach Manager will play a key role in building and nurturing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including potential speakers, sponsors, media, community organizations, and influencers. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of audience engagement, and a passion for promoting impactful ideas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement:
  • Build and manage relationships with community leaders, organizations, and influencers to increase TEDxMaitama's reach and visibility.
  • Partnership Development:
  • Identify and cultivate new partnerships and collaborations with local and international organizations, sponsors, and stakeholders to support TEDxMaitama events and initiatives.
  • Speaker Outreach:
  • Work closely with the Curator and Content Team to identify and approach potential speakers for TEDxMaitama events, ensuring alignment with our mission and event themes.
  • Media and Public Relations:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to secure coverage for TEDxMaitama events and initiatives.
  • Event Promotion:
  • Develop and execute strategies to promote TEDxMaitama events, including social media campaigns, email marketing, and public relations efforts.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Track and report on the success of outreach campaigns and partnerships, providing regular updates to the Curator and team on key metrics and outcomes.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the marketing, content, and event teams to align outreach efforts with broader organizational goals and event strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in outreach, public relations, or community engagement, preferably within the non-profit, media, or events sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of managing outreach campaigns and securing partnerships.
  • Experience in managing and promoting events, both online and offline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A passion for TEDx's mission and a genuine interest in ideas worth spreading.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the TEDx or similar event space is a plus.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools, including social media management platforms and email marketing software.
  • A network of media contacts and community leaders in the Nigerian or African ecosystem is an advantage.
