Theatre Nurse

Job Summary:

The Nurse is responsible for providing clinical support to the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with established standards and protocols. This role involves executing strategic plans for the nursing department that align with the hospital's overall mission and goals, while fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

2. Provide clinical support to the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

3. Execute strategic plans for the nursing department that align with the hospital's mission and goals.
4. Offer visionary leadership to nursing staff, ensuring compassionate, safe, and high-quality patient care.
5. Coordinate and manage the nursing team, including scheduling, mentoring, and providing guidance for optimal performance.

6. Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages professional growth and development.

7. Clinical Oversight:

8. Ensure compliance with Nigerian healthcare regulations and international standards in nursing practices.

9. Develop and oversee the implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance patient safety and care quality.
10. Oversee patient care activities, ensuring adherence to care plans and effective communication with patients.
11. Act as an advocate for patients, addressing concerns and maintaining a patient-focused approach in all aspects of care delivery.

12. Collaborate with medical and administrative teams to improve patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.

13. Staff Management and Development:

14. Recruit, train, and mentor nursing staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning.

15. Develop effective staffing models and schedules to ensure optimal patient care.
16. Facilitate training programs for nursing staff, ensuring continuous professional development.
17. Establish a healthy working environment that supports staff well-being.

· Ensure nurse roster and call schedule adheres to hospital guidelines and is cost effective.

1. Quality Assurance and Improvement:

2. Conduct performance evaluations for nursing staff, providing constructive feedback and recognizing achievements.

3. Lead quality improvement initiatives within the nursing department using data-driven practices.

4. Budget and Resource Management:

5. Develop and manage the nursing department's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.

6. Oversee procurement and maintenance of nursing supplies, equipment, and technology.

7. Collaborate with other departments to optimize resource allocation.

8. Collaboration and Communication:

9. Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and hospital administration, advocating for the needs of the nursing department.

10. Work closely with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care effectively.

11. Establish relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and educational institutions.

12. Education and Training:

· Collaborate with the practice manager, Medical Director, and other department heads to identify training needs and develop impactful education and training programs for nurses.

· Work with HR to create mandatory courses, appraisals and monitor and regulate training and development of all staff.

Job Specifications

· Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing (MSN), preferred.

• Licensure: Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years Nursing experience, with minimum of 5 years in a senior management position in nursing administration.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications - RN/RM, BSN
