JOB TITLE: AREA SALES MANAGER
LOCATION; LAGOS
Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager will oversee sales operations within the assigned geographical area, drive product visibility, manage distributors/retailers, and achieve sales targets for all FMCG product categories. The role focuses on territory expansion, channel development, and effective team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve monthly and annual targets across all FMCG product lines.
- Manage and grow distributor and retail networks within the region.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing, and emerging opportunities.
- Lead, supervise, train, and motivate the sales team to deliver results.
- Ensure product availability, visibility, and proper merchandising in all outlets.
- Conduct regular market/field visits across retail, wholesale, key accounts, and modern trade channels.
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports and present performance updates.
- Drive route-to-market (RTM) efficiency and ensure proper territory coverage.
- Manage customer relationships and ensure high service satisfaction.
- Coordinate with supply chain, marketing, and finance teams for smooth operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 4–6 years experience in FMCG sales or territory management.
- Strong knowledge of distributor management and retail operations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze data, create reports, and forecast sales.
- Must be target-driven with strong field experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office and sales reporting tools.
