Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Litigation Counsel to join our Legal Team. The ideal candidate will manage company-related litigation, oversee dispute resolution processes, and ensure that OPay's operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent OPay in all litigation and dispute resolution matters, including civil, criminal, and regulatory cases.
  • Draft, review, and file court processes, legal documents, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with external solicitors, regulators, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and support to internal teams on litigation and compliance issues.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare reports, opinions, and updates on ongoing cases.
  • Support efforts to prevent disputes through effective documentation and contract management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all litigation matters.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (B.L); must be called to the Nigerian Bar.
  • 3–5 years of post-call experience in active litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Solid understanding of corporate law, civil procedure, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in a financial institution or fintech environment is an added advantage.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases effectively.
