SUMMARY

The Project Planning & Cost Controller is responsible for planning, monitoring and controlling project schedules and costs across the Company's exploration, development, and production activities. The role works closely with subsurface, drilling, facilities, and project teams to develop realistic budgets and execution timelines, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within approved cost limits, and in line with the Company's operational and commercial objectives. The position provides continuous oversight of project financial performance, identifies cost and schedule variances, and recommends corrective actions to support effective field development and sustained production performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Project Planning & Schedule Management

  2. Review project budgets and deadlines with Project Managers to ensure alignment with operational and financial objectives.

  3. Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules, budgets, and progress cost reports, including forecasting and earned value analysis.
  4. Create and adjust project budgets, cash flow projections, and resource plans to support field development and production projects.

  5. Develop and manage the company's project master schedule and resource allocation plans.

  6. Project Monitoring, Reporting & Performance Analysis

  7. Prepare and present monthly schedule and cost status reports to management using MS Excel, MS Project, Primavera, and related tools, including S-curves, revenue recognition, and contract status updates.

  8. Monitor project progress, productivity, and contractor performance, tracking monthly progress costs and project change orders.
  9. Analyze project performance data to establish key performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.

  10. Compare ongoing project activities against the project management plan and performance baseline to ensure alignment.

  11. Financial Control & Contract Management

  12. Ensure all projects meet budgetary guidelines and financial performance targets.

  13. Control work-in-progress and ensure accurate client billing for related projects.
  14. Coordinate payments to subcontractors and vendors in line with project plans.

  15. Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize schedule delays, cost overruns, and operational disruptions.

  16. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination

  17. Contribute to the selection, training, and oversight of project controls team members, providing coaching and guidance to junior staff.

  18. Work closely with engineering, drilling, facilities, and project teams to ensure effective collaboration and execution.

  19. Liaise with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.

  20. Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  21. Ensure all project planning and controls activities comply with the Company's internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  22. Implement continuous improvement initiatives in project controls processes, reporting systems, and resource management.
  23. Drive adoption of project management software and tools to enhance accuracy, transparency, and real-time monitoring of project performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related science field.
  • Professional certifications such as:
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) – for project planning and execution expertise.
  • Prince2 – for structured project management methodology.
  • Minimum of 15 years of project controls experience, with at least 5 years in upstream oil & gas field operations, including exposure to exploration, drilling, production, and facilities projects.
