Our client is a rapidly growing African fintech organisation dedicated to improving access to essential assets through flexible financing. By enabling individuals and small businesses to acquire smartphones and other productivity tools, the company empowers users to increase income, improve digital participation, and unlock sustainable economic opportunities.
They are seeking a sales managerto build, lead, and scale a high-performing field sales ecosystem within an assigned territory.
Role Overview
The Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in establishing and expanding a sales network from the ground up. This includes identifying high-potential entrepreneurs as partners, building strong agent networks, driving sales activations, and ensuring credit portfolio quality.
This role is hands-on, field-driven, and fast-paced ideal for someone with deep experience in grassroots sales and on-the-ground mobilization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Territory Development
Map and segment assigned territory into micro-markets
Identify high-potential clusters for partner and agent deployment
Create and execute a 30–60–90-day territory growth plan
2. Partner Recruitment & Management
Source, evaluate, and onboard strong entrepreneur partners
Train partners on processes, tools, and performance expectations
Monitor compliance, productivity, and partner KPIs
3. Agent Network Growth
Support partners in recruiting and onboarding sales agents
Train agents on product offerings and field sales processes
Drive agent productivity, retention, and daily activity performance
4. Sales Performance & Reporting
Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly activation targets
Monitor key metrics: activations, throughput, agent productivity, default rates
Conduct field audits, market visits, and regular performance reviews
5. Risk & Portfolio Management
Ensure proper customer vetting, KYC, and compliance
Track repayment behaviour and collaborate with collections teams
Identify risks within the field and implement mitigation strategies
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years' experience in field sales, agent management, or territory development
Background in fintech, telecoms, FMCG, microfinance, or related sectors
Strong understanding of grassroots sales and community-based distribution
Proven ability to recruit, train, and manage sales teams
Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
