geotechnical laboratory technician

ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a geotechnical lab technician to play a vital role in our company by performing soil and rock testing, compiling and interpreting data, and helping to prepare geotechnical reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the collection and preparation of soil, rock, and groundwater samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform geotechnical tests on soil and rock samples.
• Prepare or review technical reports on sampling, testing, or recommendations for data analysis.
• Carry out geotechnical laboratory tests such as grain size analysis, Atterberg limit test, CBR, hydrometer, direct shear, etc.
• Participate in prospecting field trips to determine parameters of data collection and testing parameters.
• Prepare and maintain lab equipment.
• Follow lab safety procedures and protocols.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and data analysis to support project needs.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry techniques and standards.

REQUIREMNTS

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related field.
• Above 5 years of proven experience as a Geotechnical Lab Technician.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical testing methods.
• Ability to operate and maintain lab equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
