About the Role

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, automating, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our services. You'll work closely with the development team to implement Infrastructure as Code, enhance system reliability, and improve CI/CD workflows.

This is a non-paying volunteer role, ideal for individuals seeking practical experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, and backend development using Java and/or Go (Golang).

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure) using Terraform
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure automation tools and services using Java and/or Go (Golang)
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments
  • Monitor and enhance system performance, scalability, and security
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth integration between applications and infrastructure
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for infrastructure, processes, and best practices

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts (compute, networking, storage, IAM, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Java and/or Go (Golang) for automation, tooling, or backend service development
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience contributing to open-source projects
  • Knowledge of microservices and cloud-native architectures
  • Exposure to monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
  • Familiarity with security best practices for cloud deployments

Pay range and compensation package

This is a non-paying volunteer role.
