To safeguard life and Client's Assets from fire destruction and respond to extinguish fires, rescue trapped person(s), and salvage properties during fire incidents. Safely carry out maintenance of firefighting equipment and write reports.

Job Responsibilities

  • Takes charge of the fire station
  • Leads team to scene of drills, alarms and emergencies
  • Controls the inventory of fire equipment in transit and general store.
  • Ensure minimum stock level of all fire safety consumables are maintained.
  • Monitors the expiration and validation of all fire personnel mandatory certification
  • Leads team for inspection of fire protection systems.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the fire safety coordinator in his absence
  • Direct the activities of his team at fire incident scenes
  • Conduct first-line and dynamic risk assessment during response to emergencies
  • Organize a debriefing session after every emergency response

Key Expectations

  • Ability to plan, initiate, and develop pre-incident plans and deploy appropriate response strategies to bring under control emergencies with potential for fire and explosion hazards.
  • Ability to conduct Dynamic Risk Assessment on the spot at incident scenes and reviews as required
  • Ability to command, control, and manage a team of emergency responders with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to inculcate professional ethos into the mindset of the brigade members while developing relevant professional competencies applicable to the various assigned roles in the brigade.
  • Ability to discern the threats with respect to fire and explosion hazards in the Company operations and initiate prompt and effective control and recovery actions.
  • Ability to apply novel methods and technologies in Fire Protection Engineering, extinguishment products and methods, fixed and mobile detection, and alarm systems to safeguard company assets.

Competencies and Skills

  • Good aptitude in Fire Risk evaluation, Systems Protection requirements, Controls, and philosophies.
  • Knowledge of Fire-related pre-incident planning, and fire suppression techniques, including Fire Service Administrative principles and philosophies, methods, and practices related to modern fire department activities.
  • knowledge of basic principles of Incident Command System and its adaptation to Client's Emergency Response.
  • Knowledge of local/international fire codes, regulations, and standards applicable to fixed and mobile fire protection systems in Client's facilities and operational location.
  • Knowledge of company fire and explosion strategies in the context of HSE, MS, HSE case barriers, and Safety Critical Elements in Client's facilities.
  • Previous experience in firefighting and fire Command in an industrial setting is mandatory.
  • Must be able to lead a Team.

Training and Qualification

OND, Or A. Level WASSCE and with a minimum of 10 years post recruitment experience in an industrial setting preferably Oil and Gas and should have had basic training at an approved institution in Command and Control, Fire Rescue and recovery operations.
