Volunteer Product Designer

You will be involved in early-stage research and ideation, implementation, and iteration. Ultimately you'll be responsible for crafting a powerful and intuitive user experience for Developers all around the globe.

You will define and conduct research that not only informs our ultimate mission but feeds the design, strategy, and development of our products. You will join a smart, passionate team who works together to improve our research craft and our ability to help Megaexe build better experiences for our clients and partners.

You will be given broad autonomy to work with your engineering and product counterparts in crafting new experiences and features aimed at growing the software products of our Partners. This is a great opportunity for designers who love to experiment and work collaboratively to find new opportunities for our client base.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

1. Design experiments and validate hypotheses related to client needs
2. Contribute to the creation of seamless end-to-end experiences that directly shape the future of Megaexe
3. Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Content Design, Research, Data Science, Marketing, customer-facing teams, and other designers across Megaexe
4. Be a true champion for our users while solving complex problems, with a focus on improving experience quality
5. Report to a Product Research Manager and conduct research using generative and evaluative methods to help improve products.
6. Partner with teams such as product management, design, marketing, data science, and engineering to influence product design decisions and direction.
7. Collaborate with other research specialties to bring depth to your insights
8. Communicate research insights in credible, creative ways to help teams understand the needs of our clients.
9. Promote the research craft and help develop our user research practices across Megaexe
10. Work on designing the core user experiences for Software Products
11. Facilitate workshops with engineers, product managers, and customers for potential solutions to the identified problems in the most effective way
12. Design experiences that make complex tasks simple for our users
13. Partner closely with other product teams, Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineering & Program Management

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

1. Hands-on professional experience as a UX Designer or Product Designer
2. Entry level proficiency in designing with tools such as Figma, Framer, etc Mural, Adobe Stack, Affinity
3. A flexible and iterative approach to working with teams
4. Excellent knowledge of design systems and modern visual design practices
5. Experience conducting customer research and applying insights to your work
6. The ability to make tradeoffs, solicit feedback, communicate design decisions, and facilitate design discussions
7. You will have experience with qualitative (and some quantitative) research methods, along with knowledge of when, why, and how to apply them. We value your ability to be creative when thinking about the research problem you're trying to solve.
8. You will be proficient in data management, data analysis, and insights generation. We will look for engaging techniques for sharing research recommendations and the ability to bring teams along on the research journey.
9. A passion for design thinking methods with a deep understanding and a high degree of empathy for the people who experience your work
10. Anticipate design problems and decisions and recommends alternatives
11. Show solid research knowledge, i.e. you can define what user research needs to be done (and you're excited to do some yourself) and use existing research findings in your work
12. Be comfortable in facilitation, communication, and collaboration abilities. Have a flexible and friendly approach to working with teams, and the attitude to always strive for the best outcomes
13. Work alongside a fellow designer, product manager, and engineers to optimize the experience for how customers interact with product experiences
14. Bonus points for experience using Service Design as a means of improving end-to-end experiences.
