The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the Bureau De Change (BDC) complies with CBN and other regulatory requirements, focusing on FX transactions, customer due diligence, and anti-money laundering (AML) practices. The candidate will also play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance and operational risks.

Interested candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field with at least 5-8 years' experience in risk, compliance, or audit within a regulated financial institution or financial group structure, preferably a BDC.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance Duties

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with CBN, NFIU, EFCC, and other regulations.
  • Maintain and update AML/CFT programs and compliance frameworks.
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure KYC/CDD/EDD processes are up to date.
  • Advise management on regulatory changes.

2. Risk Management Duties

  • Identify and assess key business risks.
  • Implement controls and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain the risk register and report incidents.
  • Support business continuity planning.

3. Reporting Duties

  • Submit all regulatory reports (STRs, CTRs, AML/CFT, etc.).
  • Provide risk and compliance reports to management and the board.
  • Track and follow up on audit findings.
  • Maintain accurate records and a reporting calendar.

4. Training and Awareness

  • Deliver staff training on compliance, ethics, and risk.
  • Promote a compliance-first culture.
  • Act as the go-to person for compliance concerns.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Possess a minimum of 5-8 years' experience in risk, compliance, or audit within a regulated financial institution or financial group structure preferably BDC.
  • Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications in Compliance, AML (e.g., CAMS, CICA), or Risk Management.
  • Good knowledge of CBN guidelines on BDC operations.
  • Strong understanding of AML/CFT principles and KYC requirements.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting systems (e.g., goAML).
  • Familiarity with risk assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and compliance tracking systems.
