What's the role

Responsible for ensuring the effective planning, optimization, and governance of materials across Shell Companies in Nigeria's operations.

Manage critical material requirements, maintain optimal stock levels, and support multiple business units—including Wells, Engineering, Chemicals, Lubricants, and Production—by ensuring timely material availability and compliance with global standards.

The Position reports to the Supply Chain Operations RTP Lead and will have to combine strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with inventory systems, and a passion for driving operational efficiency in a complex and dynamic environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Material requirements planning (MRP) and manage $600M+ worth of inventory across Shell Nigeria assets
  • Replenish and maintain optimal stock levels through effective forecasting and demand planning
  • Set up, monitor, and maintain inventory parameters (MRP Types, Min./Max., safety stock levels)
  • Drive inventory optimization, identifying excess, dormant, and obsolete stock, and managing write-off proposals
  • Ensure material availability for critical operations, including turnarounds, shutdowns, and maintenance activities
  • Code and manage new material masters; oversee master data standardization and integrity across SAP systems
  • Conduct inventory performance measurement and reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual dashboards)
  • Collaborate with global data teams on material integrity reviews, obsolescence cleanup, and data quality initiatives.
  • Interface with procurement, expediting, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure end-to-end materials availability.
  • Act as focal point for Integrated Activity Planning & Scheduling (IAPS), ensuring alignment between materials availability and operational schedules.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 2 to 6 years of proven experience in inventory management, MRP, or materials planning (oil & gas experience preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP MM and other inventory management tools
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to interpret data, generate insights, and optimize stock performance. Also proven ability to analyze procurement data, drive process improvement, and implement sustainable sourcing strategies
  • Experience in material coding, standardization, and master data governance in an ERP system
  • Strong collaboration skills with ability to work across procurement, engineering, logistics, and warehouse functions
  • Proactive problem-solver with attention to detail and ability to thrive in a high-demand environment
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and working knowledge of Supply chain risk and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical, commercial, and legal stakeholders
  • Power BI (Microsoft) business intelligence, data visualization, real-time dashboards, and AI-powered insights will be an added advantage
