Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist who will be responsible for planning, conducting, and managing environmental impact assessments for new and ongoing projects. The role ensures that all environmental aspects are thoroughly evaluated in compliance with national regulations and international best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and Environmental Management Plans (EMP).
  • Develop project-specific Terms of Reference (ToR) for EIA/ESIA studies in line with regulatory guidelines.
  • Define the scope, methodology, and baseline requirements for environmental studies.
  • Manage timelines and deliverables for environmental assessment projects.
  • Conduct or supervise field studies covering air, water, soil, biodiversity, and socio-economic parameters.
  • Analyze environmental data to establish baseline conditions and identify potential project impacts.
  • Engage technical consultants and laboratories to support sampling and analytical work.
  • Evaluate potential environmental and social impacts of proposed projects during construction, operation, and decommissioning phases.
  • Develop mitigation measures and environmental management plans to minimize adverse impacts.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend sustainable project design alternatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with national environmental laws, EIA guidelines, and regulatory authority requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, Geology, or related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in environmental impact assessment or related field.
  • Proven experience leading or contributing to EIAs/ESIAs for large-scale infrastructure, industrial, or energy projects.
  • Certification or registration with recognized environmental bodies (e.g., EIA/ESIA Practitioner Certification, NESREA, EIAA, or NREP) is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international environmental standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, World Bank EHS Guidelines, ISO

Desirable Attributes:

  • Excellent knowledge of GIS, environmental modeling, and data analysis techniques.
