Job Summary

The Gas Cylinder Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and ensuring the safe handling of gas cylinders in accordance with industry and regulatory safety standards. The role ensures all cylinders are properly maintained, leak-free, compliant, and safely delivered for customer use.

Key ResponsibilitiesCylinder Handling & Maintenance

  • Inspect incoming and outgoing gas cylinders for dents, corrosion, leaks, valve damage, and overall safety compliance.
  • Conduct pressure testing (hydrostatic or pneumatic) where applicable.
  • Clean, repair, or replace damaged cylinder parts such as valves, O-rings, caps, and seals.
  • Ensure proper tagging, labeling, and documentation of cylinder maintenance activities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work activities adhere to safety standards, including PPE use, fire safety protocols, and gas-handling guidelines.
  • Report unsafe conditions, cylinder defects, or equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Follow SOPs for cylinder storage, loading, and unloading.
  • Participate in periodic safety drills, training, and equipment certification.

Requirements

  • SSCE / OND / Technical certification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in LPG or industrial gas operations is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of cylinder safety standards and gas-handling procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift/move heavy cylinders.
  • Basic record-keeping and communication skills.
