DelonApps is looking for a highly analytical and articulate
Writer & Research Assistant
to support our CEO and leadership team with research, writing and content development. The ideal candidate will have strong training in research methods, critical thinking and writing, and will be comfortable working across topics such as technology, HR/payroll, outsourcing, labour markets, business strategy and public policy.

This role is based in
Abeokuta
and is suitable for someone who enjoys reading, analysing information, and turning complex ideas into clear, well-structured documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct desk research on topics related to technology, HR/payroll, outsourcing, SMEs, labour markets and economic development (Nigeria and international).
  • Support the CEO with academic and applied research, including literature reviews, note-taking, reference management and basic data interpretation.
  • Draft and refine high-quality written materials, including:
  • Articles, thought pieces and blog posts
  • Policy and market analysis notes
  • Grant and project proposals
  • Internal reports and presentation notes
  • Summarise academic papers, industry reports and market studies into concise briefing documents.
  • Assist in preparing slide decks and talking points for conferences, client meetings and lectures.
  • Proofread and edit documents for clarity, structure, grammar and consistency.
  • Maintain an organised archive of research materials, references and data sources.
  • Collaborate with other team members (product, sales, marketing) to provide research support when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree
    (MSc/MA) in
    Economics
    (strongly preferred) or a closely related discipline such as Development Studies, Public Policy, Business, Statistics or related social sciences.
  • A
    PhD (completed or in progress)
    is an added advantage.
  • Strong background in
    research methods
    (qualitative and/or quantitative) and literature review.
  • Excellent
    writing and editing skills
    in English – able to write clearly, logically and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated ability to read complex materials (academic articles, policy reports, market studies) and extract key insights.
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills; comfortable working with concepts, arguments and evidence.
  • High attention to detail, good organisation and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interest in at least some of the following: technology, HR and payroll, outsourcing/BPO, labour markets, SMEs, economic development and public policy.
  • Willingness to work
    on-site in Abeokuta
    and collaborate closely with the CEO and core team.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Prior experience as a research assistant, analyst, academic writer or similar role.
  • Familiarity with citation and reference tools (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote) is an advantage.
  • Experience preparing policy briefs, op-eds, blog posts or academic-style summaries.
