DevOps Engineer

Position Title: DevOps Engineer

Reports To: Head of IT

Job Type: Onsite Role

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos

Summary of Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and optimize our infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and security practices. This role combines expertise in Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure automation with strong knowledge of network security, disaster recovery, and compliance frameworks such as ISO The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system scalability, reliability, and security while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across our environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure & Environment Management

* Administer and optimize on-premises and cloud-based Kubernetes clusters (via Kubespray, Helm, and ArgoCD).

* Design and manage scalable and secure infrastructure on Azure and hybrid environments.

* Implement infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent) for consistent provisioning and configuration.

* Perform system updates, patches, and security hardening with minimal downtime.

* Maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, client access, and whitelisting policies.

Deployment & Automation

* Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.

* Implement GitOps practices with ArgoCD and Kustomize for deployment automation.

* Ensure artifact versioning and promotion across Dev, Staging, and Production environments.

* Automate system configurations, deployments, and routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

* Implement and maintain observability solutions including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and the ELK stack.

* Monitor system performance and reliability, responding proactively to incidents.

* Lead root cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and preventative measures to reduce downtime.

* Maintain accurate and detailed system documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.

Collaboration & Support

* Partner with development, QA, and operations teams to improve release cycles and ensure reliable deployments.

* Provide technical guidance on DevOps best practices.

* Support environment setup and configuration for new projects.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

* Minimum of 3 years' experience in DevOps or related engineering roles.

* Proven expertise in Kubernetes cluster management (on-prem and cloud).

* Strong experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.

* Hands-on experience with Helm, ArgoCD, and GitOps-based deployments.

* Solid scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).

* Deep knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VPN, VLANs, DNS, firewall rules) and access management. Experience in penetration testing, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery planning.

* Familiarity with ISO standards and compliance processes (ISO 27001 preferred).

* Knowledge of service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio) is a plus.
