Job Description

The African Cook will specialise in preparing and presenting authentic Enugu delicacies and other Nigerian dishes, ensuring the taste and quality remain consistent. The role demands culinary skill, creativity, knowledge of traditional cooking methods and strict hygiene practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of Enugu Meals (Akidi, Ofe Akwu, Nsala, Abacha, Okpa, etc.) and other Nigerian meals
• Maintain high levels of taste, quality and portion control.
• Ensure strict compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.
• Manage food supplies and request stock when necessary.
• Train junior kitchen staff and assistants.
• Assist in menu planning and recipe development.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
• Reduce food waste through proper portioning and storage.
• Ensure meals are served on time, especially during peak periods.

Qualifications

• OND or culinary certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' cooking experience in a restaurant.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Creativity in food presentation and flavour balance.
• Reliability, discipline, and passion for cooking.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
