Role Overview

We are hiring a
Trade Systems Research Associate
to support research and strategy development across our portfolio of trade infrastructure and corridor projects. The role involves analyzing trade ecosystems, contributing to reports and diagnostics, and supporting engagements with public and multilateral stakeholders.

This is a great opportunity for professionals with a strong grasp of trade dynamics, regional integration, or logistics policy to apply their skills in high-impact global projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on cross-border trade systems, customs modernization, and logistics corridors
  • Support the development of strategic policy documents, diagnostics, and reform roadmaps
  • Analyze trade flows, investment data, and institutional frameworks across African and global trade networks
  • Contribute to briefing materials, technical memos, and stakeholder engagement notes
  • Track developments in AfCFTA, ECOWAS, and multilateral trade initiatives
  • Assist in internal knowledge sharing and contribute to global project delivery

Qualifications

  • Degree in Trade Policy, Development Economics, Political Economy, or a related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in consulting, research, or public sector institutions focused on trade, infrastructure, or economic development
  • Familiarity with African trade frameworks (AfCFTA, ECOWAS, regional corridors) is highly desirable
  • Strong writing and synthesis skills with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly
  • English fluency required; French or Portuguese is a plus
