Job Summary:

The Snailery Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the snail farm, ensuring proper breeding, feeding, housing, and maintenance of snails to achieve optimal growth, reproduction, and productivity. This role involves managing farm workers, maintaining hygiene standards, monitoring snail health, and ensuring that the farm meets production goals efficiently and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily care, feeding, and handling of snails at various growth stages.
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and lighting to ensure optimal snail growth.
  • Oversee breeding programs and ensure proper incubation and hatching processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels, feed usage, breeding cycles, and mortality rates.
  • Train and supervise farm workers on best snail farming practices and hygiene protocols.
  • Inspect snail pens regularly to identify and address diseases, pests, or maintenance issues.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of snail housing and farm equipment.
  • Collaborate with management to plan production schedules and achieve target yields.
  • Support the marketing and sale of mature snails or snail products when required.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and biosecurity standards.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in snail farming or livestock management is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of snail breeding, feeding, and habitat management.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and control snail diseases and pests.
  • Excellent record-keeping and communication skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in outdoor/farm environments.
