The Role: We are looking for an experienced and energetic Chef to join our kitchen team. In this hands-on role, you will not only be responsible for executing our menu during high-volume services but also for managing day-to-day kitchen operations. You should be passionate about cafe-style cuisine (think elevated brunch staples, fresh salads, and creative sandwiches) and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Culinary Execution: Lead the kitchen line during rush hours, ensuring every dish meets our standards for taste, temperature, and presentation.
  • Operations Management: Manage inventory, handle ordering from suppliers, and control food costs to minimize waste.
  • Team Leadership: Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff (cooks, dishwashers), fostering a positive and collaborative kitchen culture.
  • Prep & Organization: Oversee daily prep lists and ensure the kitchen is fully stocked and "mise en place" before service begins.
  • Safety & Sanitation: Maintain impeccable cleanliness standards, ensuring the kitchen adheres to all health code regulations and food safety protocols.
  • Menu Input: Collaborate with owners on seasonal menu changes and create daily/weekly blackboard specials that utilize inventory efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a kitchen leadership role (Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager), preferably in a high-volume cafe or diner setting.
  • Strong knowledge of short-order cooking (eggs, griddle work, sandwich assembly).
  • Experience with ordering, inventory management, and food cost control.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure during busy weekend brunches.
  • Current Food Handler's Permit.
