Job Summary

The Kitchen Assistant will support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen by assisting with food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring all kitchen equipment and areas are clean and organized.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist the chefs with basic food preparation such as chopping, peeling, mixing, plating, and washing ingredients.

· Ensure all kitchen areas strictly comply with food hygiene and safety standards.

· Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during peak production times.

· Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring all equipment and utensils are in good working order.

· Monitor ingredient stock levels and promptly notify the supervisor of shortages, or expired items.

· Follow directions from supervisors promptly and accurately to maintain workflow and meet production targets.

· Dispose of food waste and rubbish responsibly.

Requirements

· Minimum of SSCE or equivalent.

· Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in the relevant role.

· Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene standards.

· Ability to work in a team and take direction from senior kitchen staff.

· Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

· Physically fit and able to work on your feet for extended periods.

· Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Basic literacy and the ability to follow recipes, labels, and instructions.
