About the Role

We are seeking a skilled eBook Editor with strong experience in EPUB 2 & EPUB 3 formatting and editing to support the production and refinement of high quality digital books. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, tech-savvy, and understands both the editorial and technical sides of digital publishing.

Key Responsibilities

· Edit and proofread eBook content for grammar, clarity, consistency, and readability.

· Format and structure eBooks according to EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 standards.

· Ensure proper layout, styling, and consistency across different e-reader devices and platforms (Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo, etc.).

· Fix formatting issues including fonts, spacing, images, tables, lists, hyperlinks, and footnotes.

· Embed and manage metadata, table of contents, and navigation.

· Test eBooks across multiple devices and e-reader software to ensure compatibility.

· Collaborate with authors, graphic designers, and publishers to finalize manuscripts.

· Convert manuscripts from Word/PDF formats into properly structured EPUB files when required.

· Ensure files pass eBook validation tools (such as EPUBCheck).

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Proven experience editing and formatting eBooks in EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 formats.

· Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and basic XML.

· Familiarity with tools like Calibre, Adobe InDesign, Sigil, and Vellum.

· Excellent proofreading and language editing skills.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

· Knowledge of accessibility standards for eBooks (ARIA roles, semantic tagging, etc.) is an added advantage.

· Experience with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) requirements is a plus.

Deliverables

· Fully edited and properly formatted EPUB files (EPUB 2 and EPUB 3).

· Error-free eBook files validated with EPUBCheck.

· Final deliverables ready for publishing on major eBook platforms.
