Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Associate to support the company's legal and compliance functions across its real estate, hospitality, and investment operations. The Legal Associate will work with the existing legal team to provide legal guidance, ensure compliance, and support ourLagos operations.

The Legal Associate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company's interests by delivering sound legal advice, managing contracts, and mitigating risks. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive, problem-solving mindset, exceptional communication abilities, and sound commercial judgment. The candidate should also demonstrate strong organizational skills, technological proficiency, the ability to multitask effectively, and meticulous attention to detail; all while upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents, including but not limited to sale contracts, contractor and service-provider agreements, offer letters, joint-venture agreements, deeds of assignment, and non-disclosure agreements;
• Interpreting applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and providing actionable legal advice on how these affect the business and its stakeholders;
• Advising on the legal implications of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements;
• Working closely with the Legal Officer to provide legal guidance on key business decisions, plans, and strategies;
• Conducting thorough legal due diligence on potential acquisitions, partnerships, and other commercial transactions;
• Advising on all legal matters relating to the company's transactions and operational risks;
• Preparing and maintaining various legal templates and precedents to improve corporate efficiency and consistency;
• Liaising with external legal advisers, coordinating their work, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of legal services;
• Organizing, maintaining, and securely storing all legal documentation and records;
• Assist the Legal Officer in providing regular legal updates to senior management, including reports on the company's legal position and risk exposure;
• Advising on risk management, dispute resolution strategies, and regulatory compliance frameworks; and
• Carrying out any other legal or administrative tasks as may be assigned by the Legal Officer.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be a qualified Legal Practitioner, called to the Nigerian Bar.
• Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) with a minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1).
• Three (3) years' post-call experience in a relevant area (prior work in real estate law or property compliance preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian legal principles, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations effectively to business contexts.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Unwavering attention to detail and accuracy in legal work.
• Proficiency in legal software, document management systems, and standard office technology.
