Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to define and lead our global marketing vision. This is a foundational executive role with the mandate to build and scale the entire marketing function. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting a powerful brand narrative, driving data-led customer acquisition, and establishing market leadership as we expand our digital ecosystem.
You will translate our innovative technology solutions into compelling value propositions that resonate with a diverse set of stakeholders, including consumers, enterprises, partners, and investors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Corporate & Marketing Strategy:
* Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven global marketing and communications strategy, fully aligned with corporate objectives and key results (OKRs).
* Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic input on overall company direction, product roadmap, and capital allocation.
* Define and refine market positioning, target segments, and Ideal Customer Profiles (ICPs) to establish a dominant and differentiated market presence.
- Growth Marketing & Revenue Operations:
* Own the marketing P&L, managing a multi-million Naira budget with rigorous focus on Return on Investment (ROI) and efficient Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC).
* Architect, implement, and scale integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital platforms including Paid Social, Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), content, affiliate marketing, and strategic partnerships.
* Champion a culture of continuous testing, measurement, and optimization to maximize marketing efficiency and scalability.
- Brand Stewardship & Corporate Communications:
* Elevate the CC brand to build unparalleled trust, authority, and emotional connection within the digital and financial services landscape.
* Oversee all corporate communications, public relations, and executive thought leadership strategies to enhance our profile and reputation.
* Act as the corporate spokesperson when required and manage crisis communications with integrity and strategic foresight.
- Product & Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy:
* Lead the end-to-end go-to-market (GTM) strategy for all new product launches and feature releases.
* Develop clear, compelling messaging and value propositions that demystify complex technology and fintech solutions for target audiences.
* Create high-impact sales enablement tools, collateral, and training programs to drive commercial team effectiveness.
- Customer Lifecycle Management:
* Design and optimize the end-to-end customer journey, from initial awareness to loyal advocacy.
* Develop and implement data-led lifecycle marketing programs (email, push, in-app) to boost customer activation, engagement, and retention, thereby maximizing Lifetime Value (LTV).
- Organizational Leadership & Talent Development:
* Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance marketing organization encompassing growth, brand, content, and product marketing functions.
* Foster a collaborative culture of excellence, data-driven decision-making, and agile execution.
- Marketing Analytics & Performance Intelligence:
* Establish a robust marketing analytics and reporting framework to track, analyze, and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to the executive team and board.
* Leverage advanced analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics 4, CRM platforms like Salesforce) to derive actionable business insights and inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Criteria:
* A minimum of 12 years of progressive marketing leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role (VP Marketing or CMO) within a high-growth fintech, SaaS, or digital services environment.
* A demonstrable track record of building and scaling marketing functions from the ground up, with proven success in driving user acquisition and market penetration.
* Deep, hands-on expertise in performance marketing and managing significant budgets with a proven ability to optimize CAC and demonstrate clear ROI.
* Experience navigating the regulatory, compliance, and reputational complexities inherent in marketing financial products and services.
* Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a history of recruiting, mentoring, and inspiring top-tier marketing talent.
* Superior communication and storytelling abilities, capable of articulating a compelling vision to internal teams, external partners, and the investment community.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Proven experience in planning and executing international market expansion within Africa.
* An established network within the African fintech, technology, and venture capital ecosystems.
* Direct experience contributing to fundraising rounds and forming strategic partnerships.
* Expertise in modern marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo) and CRM systems.
