Job description:

Budget: ₦800,000(monthly gross)

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing structural systems for various projects, ensuring safety, durability, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

You will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to develop innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Structural Analysis & Design

  2. Perform structural calculations and simulations for industrial, residential, and commercial buildings.

  3. Design steel, concrete, timber, and composite structures in compliance with international codes (ACI, AISC, Eurocodes, etc.).
  4. Develop structural models using software such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, or similar tools.
  5. Prepare structural design drawings, specifications, and reports.

  6. Analyze structures to determine their ability to withstand loads, pressures, and environmental factors.

  7. Project Management

  8. Assist in project planning, scheduling, and material selection.

  9. Recommend suitable construction materials considering strength, durability, cost, and sustainability.

  10. Collaboration & Coordination

  11. Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of structural designs.

  12. Provide technical support during construction and address site queries or modifications.

  13. Review and approve shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design specifications.

  14. Inspection & Assessment

  15. Conduct site inspections to verify structural integrity and adherence to design specifications.

  16. Resolve structural issues that arise during construction to maintain design integrity.

  17. Compliance & Safety

  18. Ensure all designs meet local regulations and international building codes.

  19. Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures.

  20. Research & Innovation

  21. Stay updated on advancements in structural engineering technologies and materials.

  22. Explore innovative design techniques to enhance sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

  23. Apply value engineering principles to optimize structural performance.

  24. Documentation

  25. Prepare detailed reports, drawings, and specifications for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

  26. Collaborate with architects and draftsmen to produce construction-ready blueprints.
  27. Ensure accuracy and clarity in all design documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
     Master's degree in 
    Structural Engineering
     from an accredited institution.
  • Certification:
     COREN Certification is required.
  • Experience:
     Minimum of 
    10 years
     managing design aspects of large-scale projects.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of 
    construction materials

    geotechnical principles

    seismic design
    .
  • Proficiency in 
    structural analysis and design software
