We are hiring Electrical technicians for our Clients in the Power Generating Sector.

Description

Responsible for maintaining the lighting system in a steam power plant support the safe and continuous operation of plant facilities by ensuring reliable illumination across all operational and auxiliary areas. Their work contributes to operational safety, visibility, and compliance with plant standards.

Skills and Knowledge Required

· Basic knowledge of electrical lighting systems, including industrial and outdoor lighting used in power plants

· Understanding of single-phase lighting circuits and lighting distribution boards

· Familiarity with miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) used for lighting protection, including their ratings, functions, and reset procedures

Tools and Equipment Handling

· Competence in using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, testers, and basic measuring instruments

· Ability to safely replace lamps, fixtures, switches, sockets, ballasts, LED drivers, and damaged wiring components

· Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while working at heights, confined spaces, or near operating equipment

Troubleshooting Abilities

· Ability to identify and rectify common lighting faults such as blown lamps, loose connections, faulty switches, tripped MCBs, and damaged fixtures

· Capable of tracing lighting circuit issues using test lamps or voltage testers under supervision

· Ability to report complex electrical faults to skilled technicians or supervisors for corrective action

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

· Capable of working long hours, including shifts, and emergency call-outs

· Ability to work under varying environmental conditions such as heat, humidity, noise, dust, and outdoor weather conditions typical of a steam power plant

· Physically fit to perform tasks involving climbing ladders, working at heights, bending, and manual handling of materials

Safety and Work Practices

· Awareness of electrical safety practices and plant safety regulations

· Ability to follow work permits, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and safety instructions

· Maintains good housekeeping standards in all work areas

This role requires reliability, attention to safety, and a practical approach to maintaining lighting systems essential for plant operations.

  • Safety and emergency awareness.
  • Technical competence (OND/NABTEB in any technical discipline).
