Internal Auditor

Our client in Retail requires the services of an Internal Auditor.
The Internal Auditor will report to the Team Lead supervising audit and advisory
engagements pertaining to the Core and/or Support Business Processes within Everyday
Group of Company Limited. The role involves executing assurance and other internal
audit engagements, performing tasks and activities detailed in the annual internal audit
plan.
The role requires strong competencies, including an in-depth understanding of the core
and support processes of a Company operating under the Retail Industry, specifically
within the Food and Grocery Retail sector as well as knowledge of the Global Internal
Audit Standards (GIAS) and other leading professional guidelines or global standards.
- Key Responsibilities
o Perform assurance and advisory engagements, including similar special requests
assigned by the Team Lead and/or Head, Internal Audit and Control.
o Contribute to the development of work programs for assigned audits and other
documentation necessary to undertake the assigned engagement.
o Document management's processes and test controls through walkthroughs,
observation and inquiry.
o Document draft findings and recommendations of audit projects and communicate
same to the Lead Internal Auditor.
o Document work done in the form of work papers, collate audit observations, and communicate results in accordance with the internal audit manual and methodology.
Job Description – Internal Auditor
o Provide timely feedback to the Team Lead, Internal Audit, on the status of assigned
engagements.
o Work closely with other audit team members to complete and close out each audit
engagement.
o Update and manage the audit exceptions tracker and liaise with process owners on
implementation status.
o Perform non-standard, ad hoc requests, spot checks including investigations
o Perform administrative responsibilities as assigned by internal audit management.
o Utilize CAAT tools to deliver efficient audit projects
o Adhere to the Company's ethical standards and ensure internal audit activities are
carried out in line with Global Internal Audit Standards and other relevant professional standards.
Qualification & Experience
o First degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Finance, Economics,
Computer Science, Accounting, or a related discipline that demonstrates similar
background knowledge.
o Candidates must have completed NYSC and have a minimum of 5-6 years'
experience in internal audit and/or external audit, risk, compliance or control
practices.
o Prior experience within the retail, FMCG, banking/insurance, power industries etc.
is a plus.
o Possession or active pursuit of professional certifications CIA, ACA, ACCA, CRMA,
CISA, CFE is an advantage.
o Experience and proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite and familiarity with ERP
systems is a plus.
Competency
o Demonstrable knowledge of fraud schemes and indicators
o Demonstrable understanding of control frameworks, and risk-based audit
methodology.
o Ability to apply analytical review techniques to complex processes will be an
advantage.
o Understanding of the Global Internal Audit Standards and leading internal audit
practices.
o Knowledge and ability to apply control models such as the COSO (Committee of
Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission) Internal Control
framework.
o Demonstratable proficiency in governance, risk management, internal controls, and
compliance practices.
o Understanding and application of International Financial Reporting Standards
(IFRS) and other relevant accounting standards and competency to uphold
professional standards.
o Proficiency in leveraging data analytics techniques and Computer-Assisted Audit
o Tools (CAAT) to analyze large datasets, extract meaningful insights, detect
anomalies, and support audit decision-making.
o Self-driven and capable of working independently or as part of a team under
pressure.
o Strategic thinking ability to foster trust and confidence with business units.
o Knowledge of retail and hospitality operations and processes.
o Adaptable to dynamic work environments, able to manage competing priorities,
meeting deadlines, critical thinking abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
o Excellent communication skills.
o Good business writing proficiency.
