Government Relations Officer Nigeria

For one of our client, a multinational company in the investment for industry and infrastructure sector. We are seeking a proactive and multilingual Government Relations Officer to lead and manage interactions with government bodies and public institutions in Nigeria. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of local regulatory frameworks and strong diplomatic acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant government entities, ministries, and regulatory bodies.
- Facilitate smooth communication and collaboration between the company and public institutions.
- Support the company's legal and compliance teams by monitoring policy developments, legislative changes, and administrative requirements.
- Assist in the preparation, submission, and follow-up of permits, licenses, and official documentation.
- Represent the company in meetings, negotiations, and official forums with government stakeholders.
- Provide strategic advice on political, economic, and regulatory developments that may impact business operations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all projects meet local governance standards and expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or regulatory compliance, preferably within the industrial sectors.
- Proven ability to navigate government processes and institutions in Nigeria.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- High integrity, discretion, and ability to handle confidential matters professionally.
- Prior experience with investment promotion, infrastructure development, or public-private partnerships will be a plus.
- Strong understanding of regional dynamics and trade facilitation in Central and West Africa.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
