Join us todevelop and build Africa's most trusted payment gateway that helps merchants dobusiness with ease, with style and without borders. Whatwe needWeare sourcing for a Senior Backend Engineer with specialty in core Java or/andSpring booth to work with our backend engineering team to complement thetechnical skills needed to serve as a key contributor in building andmaintaining our core infrastructure and products development launch and scale. Thecandidate should have hands -on experience in software development and agilemethodologies. S/he should be able to work independently with little or nosupervision with excellent organization and problem -solving skills. Whatyou will do§  Take ownership oftechnical solutions from coding, release, to production.§  Write clean and scalablecodes to develop functional applications.§  Design and improve themaintainability of the code base through innovative design.§  Use technical skills tobuild amazingly exciting world -class products.§  Constantly communicatewith diverse internal and external stakeholders in embracing agile practices.§  Seek to understand how thebusiness work to identify risks (in code, features, and design).§  Diagnose complex issuesacross various levels of the stack.§  Understand the businesscontext deeply and leverage engineering knowledge to propose creative solutionsto problems.§  Work collaboratively tocomplete projects, showcase progress, and address problems.§  Mentor and coach juniorand intermediate engineers within the Engineering team.§  Constantly improve to keeppace with new innovations and technologies.§  Balance deep work withcross -team collaboration.§  Work alongside front -enddevelopers to produce efficient and user -friendly systems.§  Work on other tasks asassigned by the Engineering Leadership. Requirements§  5 -10 years of cognateexperience working with Java EE/Spring.§  Knowledge ofObject -oriented Programming concepts.§  Good understanding ofrelational databases, and agile methodologies.§  Working knowledge of coredata structures.§  Test -driven development(TDD) experience.§  Experience working withAWS, architecture, and design principles.§  Strong team leader andplayer, with the ability to improve knowledge and skills.§  Good Interpersonal,stakeholder management, and communication skills.§  Strong passion forSoftware Development. Desired Skills:§  Atleast 3 years' experience as a Senior Software Engineer.§  7 -10years of experience in software development§  Experienceusing system monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic) and automated testing frameworks.§  In -depthknowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.§  Familiarity withvarious operating systems.§  Analyticalmind with problem -solving aptitude.§  Abilityto work independently.§  Excellentorganizational and leadership skills.  §  BSc/BA in ComputerScience or a related degree.
