Job Summary

We are seeking a female Legal Practitioner with a passion for justice, advocacy, and community service to join our legal and policy team in Abuja. The ideal candidate will provide legal expertise on human rights, governance, and social justice matters; represent LJE Nigeria in advocacy and public interest engagements; and contribute to legal research, policy reform, and strategic litigation efforts.

This is a full-time, onsite role requiring strong legal acumen, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to advancing justice and equality.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on human rights, social justice, and governance issues.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, petitions, and policy briefs.
• Represent LJE Nigeria in meetings, hearings, and advocacy engagements.
• Support legal and civic education programs aimed at promoting access to justice.
• Collaborate with civil society partners, government institutions, and community organizations.
• Assist in developing frameworks for legal reforms and policy advocacy.
• Participate in organizing legal clinics, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
• Represent LJE Nigeria in court appearances, hearings, and advocacy engagements.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations affecting LJE Nigeria's operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• LL.B and B.L (Call to the Nigerian Bar required).
• Minimum of 3 years post-call experience in active legal practice or public interest law.
• Strong background or interest in human rights, governance, or constitutional law.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to conduct legal research and draft professional legal documents.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and justice.
• Ability to work onsite in Abuja (Monday–Friday).
